Assignment 2: E-Commerce Landing Page using HTML & CSS

Instructions:

Create a landing page for the assigned e-commerce website using only HTML and CSS (no frameworks or libraries).
The landing page should include:
- A hero section with a banner or featured product
- A navigation bar with links (e.g., Home, Products, Contact)
- A product showcase section
- A footer with contact details and social media links
Use proper HTML structure and styling to ensure a visually appealing design.
Submit your work by pushing it to your GitHub repository.
- Create a folder named assignment_2 inside your repo and place all related files there.

Assignment 3: Express.js Conversion with EJS Layouts and Authentication

Objective:
Convert your existing e-commerce landing page (from previous assignments) into an Express.js-based application using EJS templating with express-ejs-layouts. Implement user authentication (login/register) with session management.

Tasks:

Express.js Setup
- Convert your static landing page into a dynamic Express.js application.
- Use express-ejs-layouts to create reusable templates (e.g., header, footer, navigation).
- Ensure all routes (Home, Product, About) are handled via Express.
Authentication System
- Create login and register pages with EJS forms.
Dynamic Content
- Pass product data from Express routes to EJS templates (e.g., res.render('index', { products: productList })).

Assignment Four

In this assignment, you will enhance your existing Express + EJS + MongoDB eCommerce project by implementing a complete cart and checkout flow.

Task Details:

You are required to implement the following features:

Add to Cart
- Users should be able to add products to a shopping cart from the product listing or detail pages.
- Each cart item should include product title, quantity, and price.
- If the product is already in the cart, increase its quantity.
Cart View Page
- Create a route and EJS view for displaying the cart.
- The cart page should show a list of items added to the cart with their quantity, price, and total cost.
- Users should be able to update quantities or remove items.
Checkout Page
- Display cart summary with total price.
- Provide a form to collect basic user details (name, phone number, address).
Place Order (Pay Later with Cash)
- Add a “Pay Later with Cash” button to simulate placing an order.
- When clicked:
  - Save the order details in an orders collection (including user details, items, total price, and status).
  - Clear the cart for that session/user.

Tech Hints:

Use session or a temporary collection to manage cart data.
Orders should be saved in a separate orders collection in MongoDB.
Include success and error messages using EJS messages/alerts.

Lab Task 1: E-Commerce Landing Page using HTML, CSS & Bootstrap

Instructions:

Create the landing page for your assigned e-commerce website using HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
The landing page should include:
- A hero section with a banner or featured product
- A responsive navigation bar
- A product showcase section
- A footer with contact details and social media links
Implement at least one Bootstrap or jQuery plugin to enhance UI features (e.g., sliders, modals, accordions, carousels, etc.).
Ensure responsiveness using Bootstrap grid and components.
Submit your work by pushing it to your GitHub repository.
- Create a folder named labtask_1 inside your repo and place all related files there.
- Share your GitHub repository link for submission.

Lab Task 2: Implementing a Checkout Page with Client-Side Validation

Objective:

In this lab task, you will design and implement a Checkout Page for an e-commerce website. Your primary focus will be on client-side form validation to ensure users enter valid data before submitting the form.

Task Requirements:

Form Fields:
- Full Name (Required, only alphabets allowed)
- Email (Must be a valid email format)
- Phone Number (Must contain only digits, with a minimum and maximum length)
- Address (Required)
- Credit Card Number (Must be 16 digits, only numbers allowed)
- Expiry Date (Must be a valid future date)
- CVV (Must be exactly 3 digits)
Validation Rules:
- Use HTML5 validation attributes (e.g., required, pattern, minlength, maxlength).
- Implement JavaScript validation to display custom error messages.
- Prevent form submission if validation fails.
User Experience:
- Display error messages near invalid fields.
- Highlight invalid inputs.
- Ensure the form resets correctly when submitted successfully.

Lab Task three

Task Requirements:

You are required to add authentication functionality to your existing Express + EJS + MongoDB application.

1. User Authentication

Implement login and logout functionality.
Use express-session to maintain user sessions.
Store user credentials in the MongoDB users collection.
After successful login, store user info (e.g. user ID or email) in the session.

2. Protect Routes

Create middleware to protect specific routes by checking if the user is logged in.
If a user is not logged in, redirect them to the login page.

3. Orders Route (Protected)

Create a new route: /my-orders
This route should:
- Be accessible only to logged-in users
- Fetch and display the logged-in user’s orders from the orders collection
- Use the session-stored user ID/email to filter orders

4. Logout

Implement a logout route that destroys the session and redirects the user to the login page.

Lab Task four

Task Requirements:

You are required to build an admin interface within your existing Express + EJS + MongoDB application. This admin panel will allow managing products and viewing orders.

1. Admin Login (Optional if already authenticated)

Create a hardcoded admin user or use a flag in the users collection to identify admins.
Only allow admin users to access admin routes using middleware for admin route protection.

2. Product Management (CRUD)

Create routes and EJS views for the following:
- Add Product: Form to enter title, price, description, image URL, etc.
- List Products: Display all products with edit/delete buttons.
- Edit Product: Load product data in form for editing.
- Delete Product: Remove product from the database.

3. View Orders

Create a route: /admin/orders
Show a list of all orders placed by users.
- Include order details such as customer name, items, total price, order date, and status.
- (Optional) Add a way to mark orders as completed or update status.
